Description Dexlansoprazole is a novel drug, designed to be a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). PPIs regulate the acid production in the stomach, making Dexlansoprazole an effective substitution for Omeprazole, Pantoprazole, and Lansoprazole. This drug is commonly used to treat gastrointestinal disorders, dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Dexlansoprazole operates by inhibiting the enzymatic activity of the proton pump, an enzyme that produces gastric acid. By suppressing this enzyme, the drug prevents the formation of acid in the stomach, keeping acid levels under the pathological threshold.
